KLM wants to be your friend on Facebook (Messenger)

AMSTERDAM - David Marcus is excited about KLM. Royal Dutch is the first airline to integrate Facebook Messenger, the tool Marcus is responsible for at Facebook`s Menlo Park headquarters, into its passenger communication strategy. A smart move that might see other airlines follow and adapt soon.

Once passengers allow KLM to send them updates through Facebook Messenger, their itineraries, flight updates, check-in notifications, boarding passes and other information will be available "from one contextual, canonical thread", Marcus says (on his Facebook page, obviously).

Use Messenger to get on board. All your travel info in one place.

On the other hand, a passenger can approach KLM in this thread with questions or even rebook a flight and coordinate a new itinerery with airline staffers.

Verdict: this looks like a convenient paxex solution for all passengers who travel without the KLM app.
